In a significant economic and industrial milestone, Arunachal Pradesh is set to launch its very first commercial coal mine on Monday, October 6, 2025.
The historic operation will commence at the Namchik-Namphuk coal block, a key site holding an estimated 1.5 crore tonnes of coal reserves. This venture marks Arunachal Pradesh’s entry into the commercial mining sector, with the primary goal of driving substantial growth within the state.
A New Engine for Revenue and Jobs
The initiation of the Namchik-Namphuk mine is projected to be a major catalyst for the local economy. State officials emphasize that the mining operation is designed to:
- Boost State Revenue: The extraction and sale of coal reserves are expected to inject considerable new revenue streams directly into state coffers.
- Create Local Employment: Crucially, the project is mandated to generate numerous job opportunities for the youth of Arunachal Pradesh, addressing local unemployment and fostering skill development in the region.
The strategic move aligns with the state’s vision to harness its natural resources responsibly, ensuring that the economic benefits directly translate into prosperity and infrastructure development for the people of Arunachal Pradesh.
